Choosing the right hammer.
A good rule of thumb to buy a hammer that is a good comfortable weight not too heavy but not too light. The handle should be the same length as the distance from your elbow to the knuckles on your clenched fist.

Gas Forge vs. Coal Forge.
Both coal and gas forges are good for beginners. If you live in the city or urban settings the gas forge because there is no smoke or coal waste to tend with and once you shut down you can safely and quickly leave your work area. The cost of a gas forge is about $370.00.

  2.   Buy them at flea markets and yard sales.
  3.   Buy on ebay.
  4.   Buy new from blacksmithing supply companies.
